Jake Shields vs. Fedor…Can We Make It Happen?

Posted by: mmaczar

No, he didn’t compete…and his belt was won tonight.

Seriously, the best MMA was back in the day when Royce Gracie would beat a fellow 306 pounds heavier. So why don’t we do the catch weight shit more often? I’ll tell you why, because now network execs and other media peeps are involved. It’s a whole red tape thing. Excuse me, I need to go throw up now. That’s just the alcohol talking, of course.

Anyway, if you were wondering about the Strikeforce event tonight on CBS, here are the results via MMAJunkies:

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Fedor Emelianenko def. Brett Rogers via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 1:48
  • Jake Shields def. Jason “Mayhem” Miller via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46)
  • Gegard Mousasi def. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO (strikes) – Round 2, 3:43
  • Fabricio Werdum def. Antonio Silva via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Marlos Coenen def. Roxanne Modafferi via submission (armbar) – Round 1, 1:03
  • Jeff Curran def. Dustin Neace via submission (injury) – Round 1, 1:39
  • Shamar Bailey def. John Kolosci via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).
  • Nate Moore def. Louis Taylor via submission (strikes) – Round 2, 3:24)
  • Christian Uflacker def. Jonatas Novaes via unanimous decision (29-26, 30-25, 30-25)

Loved the fights. Great battle between Mayhem and Shields, but the Fedor and Rogers fight was also pretty damn good. I’ve been on the Jake Shields bandwagon for awhile now, so when can we start getting this guy in the ring with Anderson Silva, Dana? I’m just saying. And I thought Fedor would win by submission, so that shows how much I know. Bitches.

These are all different forms of martial arts. The UFC has become extremely big over time. Mixed Martial Arts has overtaken boxing in terms of tickets being sold.I would like to know your opinion on this
